Dean Russo — The Beatles

On this day in 1968, the Beatles released the double LP titled simply, “The Beatles.” It quickly became widely referred to as the “White Album,” and thousands of aspiring hippies tacked the four iconic photos included in the package  — taken by photographer John Kelly — onto their walls.

In 1968, Andy Warhol created his most important legacy-insuring masterpiece — the endlessly quoted pronouncement that “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes.” Also in 1968, Peter Max began his cosmic poster painting style and crossed into the mainstream as a guest on the Tonight Show. Put The Beatles, John Kelly’s photos, Andy Warhol and Peter Max in a blender and you get these Beatles paintings by Dean Russo.
